Star Wars: The High Republic diving deep into the new series of books and comics

By Clarice Taylor

Star Wars: High Republic is Disney's newest expansion into Star Wars lore, coming August 2020.

For those of you living under a rock or in case you have not hear Star Wars is coming out with a brand new series of books this summer called Star Wars: High Republic. This set of new books will span a time in the Star Wars Galaxy 400 years before Episode: I.

According to the companies release notes “This period on the Star Wars timeline will not overlap any of the filmed features or series currently planned for production” Which means that the majority of these stories will be printed publications only, and will not overlap with the current catalog of Star Wars content. These will be new stories with new characters, and maybe some old ones thrown in the mix. There is no reason to believe we won't film adaptations of these stories if the fans receive these stories well.

These stories will tell the stories of the Jedi and the Galactic republic at the height of its power. Disney has explained this time in Star Wars lore as similar to Knights of the Round Table the “guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy.” We will have new villains, Nhil, described as invading “space vikings” dedicated to causing chaos.

From everything we have heard so far I am very excited to dive into these books when they release this summer. They are available for preorder now:
