'WandaVision' Seemingly Coming To Disney+ In December

The trailer for Marvel Studios' Disney+ series WandaVision dazzled fans around the world. It gave them a taste of what was to come, perhaps after some time of not really knowing what to expect. We knew that the upcoming Disney+ shows from Marvel would tie into the films and use some of the actors from the films, but the trailer revealed homages to older TV shows that people might recognize, blending a sense of fun with a sense of eeriness.

Prior to that trailer's release, people were told that the series would come out before the end of the year. The trailer contained the words "Coming Soon," which was not very specific. However, fans soon found out via the landing page for the series that it would be coming out in December 2020. This was further reinforced by the Disney+ monthly announcement video of what would be coming to the streaming service. In the video detailing what content would arrive on Disney+ in November, WandaVision was not listed at all. If it is coming out by the end of the year, then it certainly has to be December 2020. The video advertises such things as new episodes of The Mandalorian, The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special, Inside Pixar, National Geographic's The Right Stuff, and a new film adaptation of Black Beauty. The new Marvel show, which is supposed to be coming soon, is nowhere to be seen in the video.

It would probably be a safe bet to expect WandaVision to be in the next monthly announcement video, which would showcase the content coming to Disney+ in December. The Mandalorian is airing weekly from October 30 to December 18. Disney would probably want that show to be the main focus of the service during those weeks and not have another genre series running weekly at the same time. After all, they want to give subscribers a reason to keep coming back. It would make perfect sense from a business standpoint to wait until The Mandalorian season 2 is finished before airing a weekly genre show, which would surely have some overlap with the audience of The Mandalorian.

A week after December 18 would be Christmas Day, December 25, the same day that the Pixar film Soul is being released on the streaming service. Perhaps Disney would want to go all out that day, giving a gift to Pixar fans as well as a gift to Marvel fans. WandaVision is said to consist of six episodes. So if it airs weekly beginning with December 25, the season finale would air on January 29. Most of the show would air in January in that case, but the premiere would still be before the end of the year.

Whenever WandaVision comes out, it will surely be a breath of fresh air for MCU fans who have been missing out on new content that was supposed to be released. Black Widow and The Eternals were supposed to come out this year, but they have been delayed to next year. There has not been an MCU film since Spider-Man: Far From Home came out in July of last year. The new Helstrom series on Hulu is set in the MCU, but it does not seem to be as closely tied to the films as WandaVision would be. Hopefully, the fans will not have to wait too much longer. WandaVision may arrive before we know it, giving us more of that delightful MCU brand of entertainment. In these times of stress, we need to see the heroes whom we have been following on the screen again.
