I’m sure you’ve heard about the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise. If you haven’t, you’re in luck, the upcoming show Star Wars: The Acolyte is the perfect place to showcase one of the most crucial parts of Star Wars lore. The Acolyte would be the first form of live-action media we have of Darth Plagueis. Currently, the only form of media we have of him is a photo from Legends material, which is not considered canon.

The setting of The Acolyte takes place right at the end of The High Republic era and will focus on the dark side of the force users. Which makes this the perfect time to introduce a familiar name to the Star Wars visual media. Despite him never physically showing up in movies or shows, he has been mentioned in passing.

RELATED:

Palpatine brought up his old Master during The Revenge of the Sith to help persuade Anakin to join the dark side. He explained that Darth Plagueis was attempting to uncover the secret of immortality. Something that Anakin desperately wanted to save Padme. This obsession eventually turns him to the dark side, playing into Palpatine’s master plan.

Introducing Plagueis would add more information to what we currently know about the dark side. So far, we know that Darth Plagueis was the master of Darth Sidious, otherwise known as Emperor Palpatine.

Plagueis wanted the unlock the secret to immortality, and in the classic Sith fashion, Palpatine murdered his master. Eventually in the Rise of Skywalker, somehow Palpatine returned, proving that he managed to unlock the secret of immortality. This raised the important question of how he did it.

Unfortunately, this plot point was never fully expanded upon, which left lots of unanswered questions. Disney adding Plagueis to the Star Wars canon timeline could help answer some of the unanswered questions on how Palpatine used the force to gain his immortality. The Acolyte would finally tell the story of Darth Plagueis the Wise, the unknown Sith Lord.
