The 7 Best Bucky Barnes Moments in the MCU

The loveable, murderous, brainwashed super soldier has been a fan favorite since he made his debut as Steve Roger’s best friend. He’s been by Steve’s side ever since, except for the obstacles that got in his way. After everything Bucky went through, he was able to remember who he was, and even make amends for it. While he doesn’t have a big role in the MCU, the moments he does have are memorable.

When Steve first sees Bucky again, after his “death”, he is shocked. It’s not the same guy he once knew, and Bucky is now a master killer. When he and Steve are fighting, Steve throws his shield, and Bucky catches it. This was such a cool moment in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It was the first time we got to see what Bucky has become.

6. The Winter Soldier Pulling Steve From The River

At the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Bucky, and Steve are fighting on a ship, that eventually blows up. Throughout the fight, Steve keeps trying to have Bucky remember who he is, even going as far as letting Bucky punch him out. Eventually, the ship falls into the river, and Steve is unconscious. Bucky drags him out of the water and leaves him on the bed of the river. This starts the journey of him finding himself.

5. Fighting Iron Man In Civil War

The fight at the end of Captain America: Civil War is one of my personal favorites in the MCU. It's filmed beautifully, and the effortless dynamic between Iron Man, Steve and Bucky is amazing to watch. The moments leading up to it are heartbreaking, but the fight is one of the best in the series.

4. Joining The Team In Avengers: Endgame

Bucky has been through it in the last few movies. He was even dusted in Avengers: Infinity War. This guy, however, never stops and decides to join up again to help the Avengers win against Thanos. Rocket also offers to buy his arm during the fight.

3. Bucky Finding Peace In Wakanda

During the post-credits of Captain America: Civil War, Bucky requests to go back into cryo. We see him again during the post-credits scene of Black Panther, where he is called the “white wolf”. Here he asks Shuri for help, and he finally gets the peace (for a little while) he deserves.

2. Any Moment Between Him And Sam In Civil War

Sam and Bucky were not the best of friends in Captain America: Civil War. They had a lot of great moments in the movie when they had to tolerate each other. One of the best, however, is when they’re waiting for Steve in the car, Bucky innocently asks Sam to “push his chair up”, and Sam obviously says “no”. It's not a groundbreaking moment, but it's funny to see their dynamic together.

When Bucky is on the run in Bucharest, he tries to lay low, until Steve finds him. They both are now on the run from the government, which is already after Bucky. While trying to escape on the road, from both the government, and Black Panther, Bucky takes a motorcycle, flips it, and hops on, making for one of the coolest scenes in all of the MCU.

Bucky is a character that has been through it. He “died”, was brought back by Hydra as a master assassin where he killed many people, and then was wanted by the government for something he didn’t do. He always had the support of Steve Rogers, until he died. He now has Sam Wilson, who he has gotten close to, and they could even be considered friends. He is one of my favorite characters in the MCU, and I hope we get to see him again soon.
