Kevin Feige Says He Has No Interest In Being In A 'Star Wars' Exec Role

Although Disney is a powerhouse on its own, it has seen exponential success thanks to their ongoing Marvel and Star Wars properties receiving a ton of praise and keeping fans glued to their screens via their subscription service Disney+. A lot of Marvel's success is down to one man - current Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige.

Marvel films have have been on hiatus for the time being, due to the ongoing pandemic affecting a lot of production and releases, but they still continue to release new content for TV on Disney+, and fans are loving it. As it stands at the moment, we are a few weeks away from the release of Loki in June, we have a final release date for the film Black Widow of July, and we are on week three of The Bad Batch with The Book of Boba Fett currently in production and set for a December release.

Kevin Feige will continue to serve as Executive Producer on every upcoming Marvel Studios project. However, it has also been confirmed that he will fulfill the same role on an upcoming Star Wars film. Recently, Variety released a detailed hierachy of the big players within Disney, and out of all the respective heads of each individual element of the company - Jim Morris and Pete Docter for Pixar, Kathleen Kennedy for Lucasfilm, and other Disney Pictures heads, it's very much clear that Feige is viewed as one of, if not the most, essential executives thanks to over a decade of success with the MCU.

Rumors had been making the rounds saying that Feige would be taking more of a leadership role within Lucasfilm. It had been confirmed that he would produce a Star Wars film. However, those rumors are not the case, as it's now being reported that he apparently has no interest in taking on more Star Wars related responsibilities, and instead will remain fully committed to his duties as Head of Marvel Studios.

Thanks to the ongoing success of the MCU, Feige has pretty much earned the right to take on whatever he wants within Walt Disney Studios. However, he has been heavily involved in Marvel since day one, even helping produce some of the pre-MCU films for 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures, and Universal back in the early 2000's.

Fans of the MCU and Marvel films in general have this man to thank for paving the way forward, so whilst it would be interesting to see him take on a leadership role within Lucasfilm and start working on more Star Wars projects after the one he's attached to, it's probably best that he stay focused on Marvel, especially since they have confirmed plans for another decade-worth of films, apparently.

Although the recently published report seems to confirm this Star Wars project as a "one off" for Feige, he remains extremely close with current Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. So whilst he may not be directly involved with future Star Wars projects, it remains possible that he could offer some helpful words of advice. The man knows how to keep a story going for the long haul, after all.

For the foreseeable future, at least, fans can remain happy that the MCU will remain under the watchful eye of Feige for more years to come.

Until next time!
