As writer Ryan North and artist Iban Coello take the Fantastic Four from longtime writer Dan Slott, new adventures are ahead for Marvel’s First Family. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, North said fans can expect more singular adventures for the team.

“In the most recent arc, The Reckoning War, they saved not just the universe, but the multiverse. That made the choice obvious: I’m never going to go as big as Dan did, so let’s tell smaller stories about the Fantastic Four. That was my way in.”

North went further to explain how 1960’s Star Trek episodes inspired the creation of “smaller, self-contained stories..”

North explains,

“Having these four weirdos roll into town where there’s a mystery or a problem or some sci-fi thing, solve the problem, and the move on struck me as a very interesting way to position the Fantastic Four and tell stories that would feel fresh and not like a retread of what we’ve seen before.”

Thing, Mr. Fantastic, Sue Storm, Johnny Torch

In the first issue of the new installment, the family will be separated and isolated from one another. Issue #1 will concentrate on Ben Grimm/The Thing and Alicia Masters, then Issue #2 will catch readers up with Richard and Sue Richards, and issue #3 will focus on Johnny Storm before coming back together.
