After a delay earlier this year, Marvel’s Midnight Suns will arrive with a new release date. As announced during the D23 games showcase, the tactical RPG game developed by Firaxis will now debut now on December 2nd for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. There is no news yet on the release dates of the Nintendo Switch and previous generation consoles.

The gameplay revealed so far seems similar to XCOM, where players control heroes and move them to special locations to try and defeat different enemies by using tactical RPG tactics and strategy. In Midnight Suns, it’s all about strategies in using a superhero’s abilities. The in-between gameplay was also revealed including some dialogue trees and what will happen in the game between missions.

“Midnight Suns” were originally a superhero team in the 90s, but they take on an original story in this game. The game's original plot is centered on a Marvel character known as “The Hunter” who was the daughter of a powerful sorceress named Lilith. In a forgotten struggle from ages ago, The Hunter defeated her immortal mother to stop her from ravaging the earth.

Years later, Lilith is raised back to life by Hydra. Lilith now threats all life with a combined power of magic and technology. This causes The Hunter to also rise and hopefully stop her mother yet again. Conflicted by past demons, The Hunter will have to team up with some familiar Marvel superheroes.

It was also announced that an animated series of shorts will be released as a prequel to the game this Halloween. These videos will serve as shorts that introduce the cast, including fan favorites from the MCU and overall Marvel properties. In the trailer, we see some animated combat moves of Doctor Strange, Wolverine, Blade, Ghost Rider, Nico, Magik, Iron Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, and The Hunter.
