Temuera Morrison Reveals He'd Like To Play Other Notable Clones From The Saga

The Book of Boba Fett star Temuera Morrison may hold the record for most characters portrayed in a film series. He originally played bounty hunter Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones and his likeness was also cast on every clone trooper in Revenge of the Sith. Now he is portraying his character's own son. Jango requested an unaltered clone during his time on Kamino who he raised as his own son and named Boba Fett. Temuera Morrison now plays an older Boba in The Book of Boba Fett. However, it looks like Jango and Boba Fett aren't the only characters Temuera Morrison has his sights on. In a recent interview, he revealed the other characters in the Star Wars universe he would like to play.

Morrison recently spoke to The Washington Post about what it was like to return to the Star Wars universe and how it felt to bring the original Star Wars bounty hunter back from the sarlacc pit. After speaking about getting the role in The Mandalorian, he speaks about what it was like to work with Robert Rodriguez and create The Book of Boba Fett. The interview concludes with Morrison talking about the other characters he would like to portray in Star Wars.

Morrison said;

“Well, there are people - - I’m thinking of Captain Rex for one. He looks a little like me. There’s Commander Cody. what happened to those guys? There are all those clone armies. That could be something fresh and new and exciting.”

This would be a perfect way to bring some fan-favorite characters into live-action, since Temuera was technically the template for all the clones. Theoretically, he could portray any clone trooper that has ever existed in any future live-action project that featured a clone. The possibilities are endless. The Mandalorian also showed that animated characters are not exclusive to animated shows. The second season of The Mandalorian introduced live-action versions of both Bo-Katan and Ahsoka who had previously only been featured in animation.

While shows like The Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Bad Batch have shown what clone soldiers like Captain Rex did after Order 66, there is still a lot of areas that could be explored. Clones have also never been shown in a live-action project outside of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Most have not been featured in live-action at all. Technically, Rex was retconned to be a soldier who resembled Rex during the battle on Endor in Return of the Jedi, but that hardly scratched the surface of the potential of the characters in live-action.

It is wonderful that Temuera Morrison is willing, and seemingly excited, to tell more stories in the Star Wars universe. With more and more animated characters appearing in live-action, it is entirely possible that he could appear as Captain Rex or another clone in a future series or movie. Naturally, he looks the part, and he would honestly be the perfect choice for any clone character featured in a live-action series or film. He is a fan-favorite actor from the prequel films and seeing him return as a clone character would be enough to excite fans.

However, getting to portray two of the greatest bounty hunters in Star Wars history is also a badge of honor that few other actors hold. The Book of Boba Fett is also the first time fans are getting a close look at the character of Boba Fett outside of novels and comics. Morrison has done a fantastic job of giving Boba the grandeur, respect, and scale that the character rightly deserves. It would definitely be amazing to see Morrison return as another character in a future projects, and it would be amazing to see him in more and more Star Wars projects.

On the other hand, if Morrison’s legacy in Star Wars remains playing two of the greatest characters in the series, then it is still an incredibly impressive and amazing legacy.
