The Folio Society Releases Three New Marvel Character Books

For many years now the Folio Society has been taking books that have already been published and creating new editions that make them extra special. Their books are of an exceptional quality and are seen as elevated releases. They will often have specially commissioned illustrations or a unique curation to make them above and beyond any that has been released previously. The Folio Society have taken some of the greatest works of fiction and non-fiction and released them in a new form that collectors would love and cherish. British author Stephen Fry considers getting a piece of work issued by the Folio Society as a great accolade and said "A Folio Society edition is, I reckon, as excellent an accolade as any author can achieve these days."

The Folio Society is an independent publisher that has released lots of bits of what would be considered classic pop culture including J.R.R.Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings, Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park and horror legends such as Bram Stoker's Dracula alongside a book rendition of anime classic Howl's Moving Castle. The Folios Society have already dipped their toes in to the Marvel Comics world with three retrospective compendiums consisting of: Marvel: The Golden Age 1939-1949, Marvel: The Silver Age 1960–1970 and Marvel: The Bronze Age 1970-1980. Next up on their slate are three new Marvel Heroes editions with each volume covering classic characters from Marvel Comics history: Captain America, Spider-Man and Hulk.

Captain America

Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the legendary super hero that is Captain America this Folio Society book is the first volume of their new Marvel Heroes editions. The exclusive Folio Society Captain America book pulls together classic Captain America stories from Marvel Comics legends Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Jim Steranko. Captain America features ten stories in one spectacular hardback edition. Former Marvel editor-in-chief Roy Thomas has worked with the Folio Society to collate key stories from Captain America's eighty year history. Roy Thomas provides an excellent introduction The cover art is provided by award-winning Marvel illustrator Michael Cho. Spider-Man

The second volume of the Folio Society Marvel Heroes books features everyone's favourite friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. The collection features classic stories from acclaimed Spider-Man creators Stan Lee, Steve Dikto, Todd McFarlane and Brian Michael Bendis. This volume of Marvel Heroes contains twelve exciting tales of web-slinging action that will have spider senses tingling everywhere. This volume is again curated by former Marvel editor-in-chief Roy Thomas and he selects classic stories from nearly sixty years of web-slinging crime fighting adventures. You will get to enjoy the debuts of Doctor Octopus and Venom as well as Peter Parker's first encounter with his young successor, Miles Morales. Artwork for this volume is provided by another award-winning Marvel artist, Marcos Martin, who is famed for his work on Spider-Man. The cover is red and blue with the slip case stamped with Spider-Man's iconic sigil. Included with the Folio Society Spider-Man volume is perfect replica of The Amazing Spider-Man #1 that was first issued in 1963.

Hulk

The third volume in the Folio Society Marvel Heroes set features the big green smashing machine, Hulk. The classic stories in this volume are brought to you courtesy of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Al Ewing. This volume marks sixty years of the Hulk in Marvel Comics. Once again former Marvel editor-in-chief Roy Thomas has done a fantastic job in curating some of the best stories both old and new that cover a variety of Hulk based themes. You will see Hulk's earth shattering encounter with Sub-Mariner and also the debut of super villain the Wendigo alongside confrontations with many of Hulk's alter egos. The Hulk volume is in gamma green with artwork designed by British Marvel artist Jim Cheung. The slipcase features Hulk's fist icon pounded on to the cover. This volume also features a reproduction of The Incredible Hulk #1 from 1963.
