The legendary vampire slaying, shades-wielding, Blade is coming to the big screen since the after-credit scene in The Eternals showcases an offscreen Eric Brooks saying, “Sure you’re ready for that, Mr. Whitman?” However, the writer has had a most-recent change in development. Fans should not be worried as Blade is set to be released in November of 2023. The original writer was Stacy Osei-Kuffour, who is better known for their work in Watchmen. This would not be the only member to be leaving Blade’s production as Bassam Tariq also dropped out of the director’s chair. Kevin Feige was impressed with Beau DeMayo’s work on Marvel Studios Moon Knight, Marvel Studios Xmen ‘97, The Witcher, and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, and allowed the rework of Blade’s story to go to Beau DeMayo.

Will the MCU delve deeper into the twentieth century with Blade? As it stands, Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain Marvel, and Marvel’s Agent Carter serve as the pinnacle of what the Marvel universe was like before the Avengers. With Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings, Marvel shows the audience that the universe at large is the same and many of the artifacts that the heroes use are just generally spread about or elsewhere. Blade could show more instances from before the Twenty-First century.

The actor who portrayed Blade in The Eternals and future Blade projects and cameos is none other than Mahershala Ali. Mahershala Ali is better known for roles such as Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes in Luke Cage, Mombasa in Predators, and Vector in Alita: Battle Angel. In each of these roles, Mahershala Ali is a strong and dark antagonist willing to do what needs to be done. First, Mombasa was chosen as one of Earth’s deadliest killers to participate in the Predator’s survival challenge. Second, Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes was a top-tier gangster of New York running Harlem’s underworld. Lastly, Vector serves as the primary dictator of Nova. Each of Mahershala Ali’s portrayals is of strong and calculated killers. Mahershala Ali has been notably frustrated saying that Kevin Feige is spread too thin.
