This Disturbing Baby Yoda Animatronic Will Give You Nightmares For Years

There is no doubt about it: toys were one of the things that helped to make the Star Wars series what it is today. Star Wars toys have set dozens of standards in the toy world, and they have meant so much to fans of Star Wars for years. That is why it was such a shame that when The Mandalorian premiered, there were no toys based on the show to be found. That has since been remedied, and we have had several wonderful toys come from an equally wonderful show. However, the newest toy in the "adorable Baby Yoda" line may not be as adorable as fans find his on screen counterpart.

Later this year, Hasbro will introduce the world to "Galactic Snackin' Grogu." This Grogu, much like the version we see in the show, can snack on a wide variety of treats. The snacks he can choose from are a blue cookie and a bowl of soup with a squid creature in it, and he can be spoon fed as well. I suppose Hasbro wanted to venture away from eggs even though we all know how much he loves a handful of those. That is not all that the toy is capable of, though. He will also react to each food item and tell you what he likes and dislikes. They have also included his silver ball toy from the show, which he loves here as much as he does in his adventures with Mando. He can even appear to use the Force to play with it. This seems to be their follow-up to "The Child Animatronic Edition" that released last year. Although, this one gives the impression that the food won't be the only thing on the table to be eaten.

The toy definitely looks similar to the Grogu we see in the show, albeit a little more sinister-looking than he already is. It appears that Hasbro opted for a harder, more rigid plastic than their last outing with Grogu, and this coupled with his large, seemingly always open black eyes, gives him a bit of an uncanny valley aura to him. The pupped-like mouth lines also make it look as though he has been possessed by Chucky from Child's Play. I look forward to seeing the fanmade horror films on YouTube with a killer Grogu. We know from the show that he is more than capable and willing.

All joking aside, this toy looks engaging for kids, and it is a great way to appeal to boys, girls, or just fans of the show or Star Wars in general. It is also a smart way to incorporate the new characteristics we saw from Grogu in season 2 into new toy. One of the things we got to see most in the new season was his appetite, after all. And getting to see him play with the silver ball toy in real life would be absolutely adorable.

Senior Design Director at Hasbro, Vickie Stratford, spoke about why they wanted to focus on eating and what they loved to see with their Star Wars toys.

"We looked at a lot of different ways to interact with the character and the concept of snacking opened up many fun ideas for our design and development team to create an all-new interactive experience. We are really excited to see kids enjoy Grogu’s different reactions to his snacks when they place the interactive accessories in his hand."

Honestly, despite my own fears of Grogu staring me down in the middle of the night, I hope kids and fans enjoy the toy a lot. Just, maybe, don't perform any rituals around this doll. I don't want any Annabelle situations with the cutest thing in the world right now. If you would like to purchase this toy, you can do so at the following link: https://amzn.to/3fhvTCx
