Who's That Wookiee In 'The Book of Boba Fett'?

*Spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett*

In the most recent episode of The Book of Boba Fett, titled Chapter 2: The Tribes of Tatooine, we see the titular bounty hunter-turned-crime lord encounter many challengers to his throne. Among these rivals are two of Jabba's cousins, known as "the Twins", who arrive in Mos Espa to lay claim to their late cousin's territory. When Boba refuses to relinquish his current position, the Hutts respond by trying to intimidate him with a fierce-looking Wookiee gladiator. The Wookiee's design alone is certainly striking and creates an air of intrigue and mystery around the new character. Luckily, this Wookiee does have an established backstory due to his long-running history in the Star Wars comics.

Black Krrsantan, introduced in the first issue of Darth Vader (2015), was a vicious Wookiee bounty hunter and gladiator who abandoned his people and willingly became a slave fighter in order to test his strength. Killing many powerful foes in brutal death matches, Krrsantan quickly became notorious in the criminal underworld for his ferocity and sadistic pleasure in watching his enemies suffer. Initially starting out by taking on easier targets for smaller crime bosses, Krrsantan soon managed to work his way up through the underworld until he came under the employ of Jabba himself.

Ten years before Episode IV: A New Hope, Krrsantan was sent by Jabba to kill the Lars family for never paying their water tax. After reaching the family's moisture farm and threatening Owen Lars, Krrsantan was met by Obi-Wan Kenobi. Protecting the family from harm, Kenobi barely fought off the Wookiee bounty hunter, causing Krrsantan to flee Tatooine, so as not to be punished by Jabba for his failure. Following the destruction of the Death Star, Krrsantan and Boba Fett were hired by Darth Vader. Boba was sent by the Sith Lord to find the pilot who had destroyed the battle station, while Krrsantan was sent to track down one of the Emperor's agents who had gone rogue. After this mission, Krrsantan would continue to serve Vader alongside Doctor Chelli Aphra, taking on secret missions for the Sith beneath the Emperor's notice.

Soon, Krrsantan's service under Vader brought him into conflict with the crew of the Millennium Falcon. Tracking them to Vrogas Vas, Krrsantan grounded their ship with his own and attempted to bring Luke Skywalker to Vader. However, he was fought off by Han Solo and Chewbacca before the crew managed to escape. Sometime later, Aphra left Vader's service, leading the Sith to send Krrsantan to capture her. The Wookiee did manage to capture Aphra and bring her aboard the Executor. But, due to Aphra still owing him money and promising to pay him back, Krrsantan turned on Vader and helped Aphra escape. They would go on to do a few more missions together before going their separate ways after the Battle of Hoth.

This brings us to The Book of Boba Fett, where Krrsantan has seemingly returned to the Hutts' service, now acting as an enforcer for Jabba's cousins. With Boba currently controlling Mos Espa and refusing to give it to the Twins, it stands to reason that this won't be the last we see of either the Hutts or Krrsantan. With tensions running high in the sands of Tatooine, it's likely we'll get to see Krrsantan in action against the new crime lord, Boba Fett, with all the ferocity that entails.
