'Ms. Marvel' Episode 5 Reaction

Ms. Marvel reaction

The last episode of Ms. Marvel left fans on quite the cliffhanger. Kamala Khan was transported back in time to 1947 during the height of the partition of India. The gaps in the show's explanation of this violent and uncertain time are filled in with newsreels showing how awful the partition was to those living in British India. On the run from British soldiers, Aisha runs into a non-violent farmer by the name of Hasan, who is played by the Bollywood star Fawad Khan. The two of them turn out to be the mother and father of Sana, Kamala’s maternal grandmother, but sadly as the country is set ablaze the family is forced to flee.

Throughout the fifth installment of the series, we see Kamala become closely acquainted with her family's history of fleeing the violence that engulfed their home in the 40s. She becomes informed not only about the history surrounding her family but how she shaped these events. This episode is one of the most interesting so far in the series because of how Kamala becomes woven into the family history. Both through seeing the events play out and influencing their outcomes.
