New York Comic Con gave fans who were in attendance a first look at the upcoming Apple TV+ show, Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters. The first episode was shown and then followed by a Q&A with some of the producers and directors of the series. After seeing the first episode, it's clear that Godzilla fans will enjoy this series.

The first episode did not hold back when it came to the Kaiju. It never teases us with the Kaiju either, as we see them right away, including a few scenes with Godzilla. We also continue to see them throughout the episode.  They are terrifying, and something you want to run the opposite way from. This series is also going to take a more serious note when it comes to the Kaiju. We see how the world has adapted to the Godzilla threat as well. In Tokyo, where it seems like the show will primarily take place, there are signs alerting people on where they can go in the threat of a Godzilla attack.

The show will also be more character-focused, instead of monster-focused. Even though it focuses more on the people, it does not lack monsters. The threat is always there, and Godzilla, or others, could attack at any time. From what we’ve seen so far, the character of Cate has a traumatic past when it comes to the Kaiju. Her father recently died, and she goes back to Japan to settle his affairs. While there, she comes across a few secrets that her dad never revealed to her or her mother. She investigates the secrets, comes across secret documents, and discovers her dad was involved in something much deeper than she ever knew. The show also goes back in time. It shows us other characters, who were investigating the Kaiju many years earlier. One of these characters is played by Wyatt Russell. He plays the younger version the same character that his father, Kurt Russell plays. Their casting was a great choice, and I cannot wait to see Kurt Russell in the show.

Godzilla movies have never been serious. It’s always been fun to see Godzilla going on a rampage and fighting other Kaiju. However, we see the toll this has taken on cities and even people. It will be interesting to see a show about the people who live in the world of the Kaiju, and what they uncover. Monarch is a mysterious organization, that we only scratched the surface of in the first episode. Godzilla fans have a lot to look forward to when Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters drops on November 17th on Apple TV+.
