Are Mulder And Scully Back? Ryan Coogler Is Making An 'X-Files' Reboot According To Chris Carter

If the truth is out there, then it has surely arrived. How do we know this? It turns out that Chris Carter, the creator of The X-Files, had revealed some curious tidbits during an interview with On The Coast with Gloria Macarenko. Seeing as how the interview was set up to help celebrate the 30th anniversary of The X-Files, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise when Carter dropped the name of a certain director. Why? To help reboot the franchise, of course!

"I just spoke to a young man, Ryan Coogler, who is going to remount ‘The X-Files’ with a diverse cast. So he’s got his work cut out for him because we covered so much territory." Carter had said in the interview. The X-Files does indeed have some pretty big shoes to fill. After all, the show has 11 seasons under its belt, so allowing a different creative mind to take the reins could put a lot of pressure on someone. Despite this, Coogler isn't a name to scoff at.

Fans of Black Panther may recognize his name, as he directed and wrote both films featuring Marvel's Wakandan warrior. If Marvel isn't your style, Coogler is also known for his work on the Creed movies (also starring Michael B. Jordan), and even produced Space Jam: A New Legacy. Regardless of Coogler's portfolio, it would be understandable if the idea of another rebooted property appeared nauseating. If you're a "glass-half-full" kind of person, then there might just be something here for you. After all, not much is currently known about its state.

This raises the question: will Mulder and Scully return? It's very hard to say, as neither Gillian Anderson nor David Duchovny seems to be in too much of a hurry to revive their previous roles. Both actors have considered the idea, however, if there was a different team of writers in charge. With the knowledge that Coogler will be a show-runner, maybe the idea of fresh, new ideas might attract them to continue. If not, however, there will always be others to fill their shoes. If the characters are to return at all, that is.

As of right now, no platform or streaming service has provided any knowledge on when or where an X-Files reboot would take place. With very little currently being said by Coogler himself, everyone will just have to sit and wait for the pieces to come together.

Because in the end, all things come together.
