Frost Beasts Popped Up In Marvel's 'Secret Invasion' Episode 2, But What Are They?

Secret Invasion episode 2 gave us more insight into the Skrulls and their plans. We learned that some world leaders are not what they seem and are planning to help the Skrull leader take over Earth. Later, Emilia Clarke’s character, Gi’ah, spies on a fellow Skrull in a lab where they are harvesting some sort of DNA. The DNA is from a variety of sources, and it can be assumed that they will use the DNA to become stronger. We catch a glimpse of one of the DNA samples on the computer that Gi’ah logs on to and see that one of them belongs to something called a Frost Beast.

The Frost Beasts are massive creatures native to the planet of Jotunheim. It is also the same realm where Frost Giants are from. These beasts are extremely agile, even though they are larger creatures. They are also able to resist cold temperatures and cover their bodies in ice. These creatures go way back to the first Thor movie. Thor, Loki, Sif, and the Warriors Three attack Jotunheim, after it was believed that the Frost Giants attacked Asgard. Frost Beasts were sent to attack the group after Thor didn’t want to talk it over with the Frost Giants. However, he defeated these beasts quite easily.

To figure out how the Skrulls acquired the Frost Beasts DNA, we must look back at Thor: The Dark World. During Thor’s battle with Malekith, the convergence happens. Doorways from all of the nine realms opened up. One of these doors opened to Jotunheim, and when this happened, a few Frost Beasts left Jotunheim for Earth and stayed there. During one of the post-credits scenes of the movie, we can see a Frost Beast decide to stay on Earth and never leave. We do not know what happened to the Frost Beats that remained on Earth, but we can guess that the Skrulls somehow found out and decided to harvest its DNA. Gravik does have connections, as we saw in episode 2, so it's not too surprising he was able to get his hands on something like this.

We can assume that the Skrulls want the DNA to make Super-Skrulls. They could use the DNA to become faster, more durable, and stronger, all of which are needed to successfully take over a planet. The DNA would also make them resistant to cold and freezing temperatures. The Skrulls are still mysterious, and we don’t know a lot about them and what they can do. It will be interesting to see how they use the Frost Beast DNA and if they can successfully take over Earth.
