Less than 10 days after the official launch of their newest IP in decades, Starfield, Bethesda is already enjoying resounding success with accolades like Starfield becoming the best-selling game on Steam. It’s passed recent successes like Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s also Bethesda’s biggest launch ever, with 6 million players across platforms. Still, the game is not without its doubters and not everyone was blown away by the game’s ambitious aims. That’s not stopping Bethesda, however, as the company has come forward to release a sort of road map for future updates and plans for the game following the release of its first update.

One of the biggest frustrations players have about the game regards the game’s lack of a detailed map. Players have to rely on custom markers and quest icons, and if they activate their scanner, a guiding trail of arrows. If players go to access the map, it’s just a vaguely topographical sea of blue dots. Bethesda has announced that they will have better maps in a future update. Another announcement that fans will welcome is the use of DLSS support for PC players. DLSS is an upscaling technology by Nvidia that improves game performance and frame rate for visually demanding games, on PCs that use an Nvidia GPU. The lack of such support was felt across the PC gaming community, and fans were quick to mod the game to offer DLSS support. Bethesda has now promised this will come in a future update.

Other plans include other quality-of-life improvements, like an FOV (Field of View) slider, HDR calibration, ultra-wide monitor support, and apparently even a button to eat food straight away, instead of having to pick it up and go into the menus. Bethesda has also stated that official mod support will arrive in 2024.

With all this, Bethesda has promised that they will support Starfield for years to come. Starfield is available now on Xbox and PC.
