Disney Is Sitting On A Finished 'Aliens Vs Predator' Anime, For Reasons

Sci-Fi fans might be able to rejoice soon as IGN is reporting Disney has completed an anime series called Alien vs Predator; however, the company is not releasing it to the public for unknown reasons. Joshua Izzo, a former licensing director from 20th Century Fox prior to Disney’s purchase of the company, shared on an episode of The Perfect Organism last month that the show is completed, but there are no plans to release it yet; “There is, sitting at Disney now, at 20th Studios, ten episodes of a fully completed Alien vs. Predator anime series that I produced. It’s done. It’s in the can. It’s mixed; its finished. Eric Calderon and Dave Baker, two unbelievably talented guys, produced and cracked a story.”

Izzo explained the initial concept for the series to be animated, but the idea evolved into an anime production. The first pitch meeting was with Dave Bixler, who was the Home Entertainment head at 20th Century. Izzo’s plan was to release directly to home viewers, “I said, ‘Hey listen, I want to pitch this idea of a direct-to-DVD Alien and/or Alien/Predator animation that we, the consumer products division, can sell against. Let us be the masters of our own destiny rather than waiting for theatrical whenever a movie decides to come out.”

After the pitch was approved, a director was brought in, rumored to be Shinji Aramaki, who directed Blade Runner: Black Lotus. At the time of this writing, there is no foreseeable or rumored release date for the series.
