March 28 marked the 22nd anniversary of Kingdom Hearts. The original game was an ambitious and surprisingly successful RPG that managed to combine the worlds of Disney and Final Fantasy. The anniversary passed with little fanfare, but the following day, Square Enix announced the new schedule for the Missing-Link closed beta test for Android users in the UK and Australia. The beta test will take place April 25 to May 2. The deadline to apply passed last fall, and those chosen should receive an email around April 19.

Late last year, iPhone users had the chance to experiment with the mobile game. Players sharing their experiences with Missing-Link created a deluge of information that has since dried up. The game takes place between the events of Union Cross and Dark Road and will feature the reincarnation of the player character from the first mobile game. The game’s main gimmick is the GPS feature, which will allow players to encounter Heartless in the real world, similar to Pokemon Go. As this is a Kingdom Hearts game, fans can expect a compelling convoluted story that will likely be concluded or expanded upon in Kingdom Hearts IV. Currently, there is no release date for either of the upcoming games. However, the beta test and responses should give Square Enix everything they need to finalize the game, so they can release it to the general audience.
