Yesterday, a new poster teasing the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman in The Flash movie was shared on social media by Twitter user “TaurooAldebaran", reminding us how close the outing of this movie is.

The poster displays a dark bat-shaped symbol merging with The Flash’s red lightning bolt, both surrounded by yellow lightning. These symbols could be a reference to how close Barry Allen and Bruce Wayne will be in the movie and how their goals will intertwine, but also a reference to the fact that there’s more than one Flash character in the movie.

Directed by Andy Muschietti and written by Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey), the movie stars Ezra Miller, Michael Keanton, Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle, and Michael Shannon. From what we’ve seen in the official teaser trailer, the plot of the movie seems to be inspired by the Flashpoint comic book in which Barry Allen travels the multiverse and ends up in an altered DC Universe.

Despite the movie having gone through a series of bad headlines due to Ezra Miller’s alleged illegal doings, fans are truly excited for the movie to come out, and, more importantly, Keaton’s coming back as the personification of vengeance seems to participate in that enthusiasm. The last time Keaton was seen playing this beloved character was in Batman Returns (1992), and despite being more than a decade old, the performance has always been praised by fans.

Even more thrilling, in anticipation of the movie’s success, Warner Bros. Discovery has already assigned writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to write a potential sequel to The Flash movie. We can only wonder how this character will fit James Gunn’s new DC slate which was partially revealed not long ago.

The Flash is set to release on June 16, 2023.
