First Full Image Of Michael Keaton’s New Batsuit Revealed

Michael Keaton Batman

For many fans, Tim Burton’s Batman was the first time the titular character was finally done justice on the big screen. Likewise, many fans feel Michael Keaton’s take on the character is the definitive version of the caped crusader. Despite initial backlash, Keaton crafted a version of the character that fans and actors still refer back to when a new Batman flick comes out. That is why fans were extremely excited when it was announced that Keaton would be reprising his role as the Caped Crusader in the upcoming Flash movie. Not only would he be returning as Batman/Bruce Wayne, but he will be returning as the same Batman from Tim Burton’s Batman universe. Now fans have finally gotten their first official look at the Batsuit that will be used for the film.

Epic Film Guys recently shared an image on Twitter of Michael Keaton in the Batsuit for The Flash. The suit had been leaked online prior to this through set pictures for the upcoming HBO Max Batgirl film, which will also star Keaton, and there was a brief look at him in the original Flash trailer. The image from Epic Film Guys gives a more detailed head-to-toe look at Michael Keaton in the suit, and the Dark Knight looks fantastic.

The suit is almost an exact recreation of the suit Keaton wore in the original 1989 Batman film. From the bright yellow bat symbol on the chest to the seamless cowl attached directly to the bat’s cape, it looks like it could be right out of the third Tim Burton Batman movie that never happened. The main noticeable difference between the two suits is the famous utility belt. While Keaton’s original Batsuit utility belt was yellow, this one is a cool black. This is likely to make it fit more with the aesthetic of the rest of the suit. There are other slight differences for the suit like the fact that the new suit looks slightly less rubbery and appears to have several smaller interconnected pieces rather than being mostly a couple of big rubber pieces. All in all, it looks exactly like what fans would want from a new version of Burton’s take on the Batsuit.

This will be the first film in which Keaton returns as Batman since 1992’s Batman Returns, also directed by Tim Burton. Although this will not be a Batman solo film, it will feature both Michael Keaton’s and Ben Affleck’s versions of the character. The film is expected to take inspiration from the Flashpoint storyline in the comics, which allows the Flash to travel through dimensions and time, making these character appearances and interactions possible. This will also not be the last time Keaton appears as Batman. As stated above, he will also be returning as Batman in the new HBO Max Batgirl movie where he will take on a mentoring role to the younger Caped Crusader. However, there is no official confirmation whether he will make appearances in any other DCEU film post-Batgirl.

The Flash has been in development since the inception of the DCEU. The film is finally going to be released next year, and it will definitely be a spectacle for fans in one form or another. Michael Keaton is obviously a welcomed addition to the cast, and most fans have been dying to see Keaton play an older Bruce Wayne similar to the Bruce Wayne in the Batman Beyond animated series. While it has not been directly stated, it seems likely that he will also take on a mentoring role. Regardless, it is nice to see him dawn the pointy ears, cape, and cowl once more. Hopefully, he will be able to move his head this time.
