Anticipation builds for the upcoming film The Flash starring Ezra Miller, especially since the recent trailer showed Michael Keaton’s return as Batman. A new detail has emerged as fans continue to scrounge for further information leading up to the film’s release.

BuzzFeed’s coverage of The Abrin 2023 Toy Fair in Latin America has revealed the villain of the forthcoming movie in a description:

“Two collections of different sizes will be launched but with the same characters: two versions of the Flash, Batman, and the villain, Dark Flash – who steals the soul of speedster heroes.”

This is not the first time merchandise reveals important detail about the film either. A Black Adam toy listing back in January 2022 pointed to Sabaac as the film’s villain.

The particular description of Dark Flash’s abilities is different from the character known as Black Flash in the comics. Black Flash doesn’t steal the soul of speedsters. Rather, he acts as a grim reaper who returns them to the Speed Force, the source of all speedsters’ powers, after their death. There are no other details about the movie version of Dark Flash other than this brief note about a new toy. Of note, The Flash stunt crew shirt last year pointed to Black Flash as the film’s villain.

The film stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen (The Flash) and will feature Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton as two distinct versions of the caped crusader. Ron Livingston will portray Henry Allen, who was played by Billy Crudup in Zack Synder’s universe of films. Michael Shannon will return as General Zod from Zach Synder’s Man of Steel.

The Flash debuts in theaters on June 16, 2023.
