The Wonder Woman franchise has established its stature as one of the DCEU's stronger entries despite the mixed critiques Wonder Woman 1984 received. Since Wonder Woman made pretty pennies for Warner Bros. Discovery and Wonder Woman 1984 not so much the studio must have pondered on the meaning of "expecting a different result by doing the same thing" and made the unorthodox move of green-lighting a 3rd Wonder Woman film, which will in all likelihood perform equally, if not better, than the last film, profit-wise that is.

So, yes, Patty Jenkins has all but confirmed the film will be made as long as it does not end up like the Batgirl film. The anticipation is that the third time's the charm and the film will rectify the 2nd film's missteps. Whereas the studio's bottom line will always be their net profit (excluding SVOD preferably), fans expect a good story. With the bar set a little lower after Wonder Woman 1984, their hope now is Patty Jenkins, an excellent storyteller, will have written a Wonder Woman 3 story that will elicit an exclamation of "now that's what we're talking about." Now that Star Wars Rogue Squadron has been removed from Disney’s release calendar, Ms. Jenkins can focus her attention on Wonder Woman. This is critical because she has been asked: “to think of ways to do more.” In a recent interview, it's clear Ms. Jenkins is excited to tell more Wonder Woman stories in films.

"So, I found myself hooked, and so whereas I said I was only going to do 1, then I said "Oh my god, I have to do 2, and then I found myself saying, "Oh my god, I'm antsy to do 3, and so even now I say that's it because I always planned a 3-movie arc and so there is...a story that goes through the 3 different movies as a whole." She begins in the posted clip. The statement she let out next is what had fans, die-hard and casual alike, reading between the lines, setting them on to speculation road once more: "But even now I just wrote last week the final scene for Wonder Woman 3, and I thought I'd be interested to see what happened next, so you never know. They have asked us to think of ways to do more, and it accidentally happens, but you never know. I have a lot of other films...I'm excited to do as well."

Netizens have not forgotten the sore point that was Wonder Woman 1984 and the announcement's reception was lukewarm at best. This is expected. The next film will likely make or break the franchise. Either way, its direction will have to change if and when the 4th begins production. The story could go the route of a passing of the torch to Donna Troy/Wonder Girl; for now, that's just a shot in the dark. So, until Wonder Woman 3 and 4 turn out to be pleasant surprises, the only legitimate reaction for the film or any DCEU film is fingers crossed.
