'Star Wars: The Acolyte' Will Begin Filming This Month Through May Next Year

While fans eagerly await the release of future Disney+ releases in the Star Wars universe, such as Ahsoka and The Mandalorian, there is growing excitement for The Acolyte. The series is to explore the darker side of the force with an element of martial arts. The lead character of the show will be Amandla Stenberg. Leslye Headland of Russian Doll fame will lead as the series showrunner, writer, and director. She has mentioned her is wanting to show the audience, “a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emergent dark side powers.” The show has no release date; however, pre-production work has begun.

The Bespin Bulletin reports the show is to film beginning in October to finish by May 2023. A late release in 2024 could be in the works if production ends on time. New photos have landed on the internet showing an outdoor set behind Shinfield Studios in Berkshire, England.

In the Star Wars universe, the term ‘acolyte’ refers to a Sith member beginning their training under a Sith Lord. The show is set during the last days of the High Republic era, over a century before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. The Acolyte will be lead by Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-Jae.
