When it became clear that we would be getting a Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, there was instantly a lot of anticipation. We’d wanted to see Freddy and the gang on screen pretty much since his first appearance. With the adaptation, there were also a lot of questions about who would be involved. One of the main names that people desperately wanted to see attached to the product was actor and mega YouTuber Mark Fischbach, better known as Markiplier. Who better to be in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie than the self-proclaimed “King of Five Nights at Freddy’s”?

Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.

It was originally going to happen, though. In a recent video discussing his own cameo in the film, YouTuber Matthew Patrick, better known as MatPat on YouTube, revealed that Markiplier was supposed to have a role in the film, specifically as the security guard killed at the beginning of the movie. They had his costume ready for him and everything. However, Mark was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with his own movie, Iron Lung.

This is majorly disappointing for everyone who had hoped to see Mark interact with Freddy and the gang. It’s undeniable that both played a large part in the massive success of the other, so to go into the movie knowing that Mark didn’t have a part is a bit sad. However, that is the nature of movie-making. If Mark couldn’t be in FNAF so that he could make Iron Lung as good as he could, then hopefully it will all be worth it.

There’s always hope, though. Five Nights at Freddy’s grossed $130 million in its opening weekend. A movie like that is going to see sequels, so we may see Mark meeting Freddy on the silver screen someday after all.
