Sgt. Rock Vs. The Army Of The Dead comic

DC is looking to change up its signature style and focus more on the horror elements. Recently they have touched on the more horrific side of things with DC vs Vampires and some of the stories released on the black label. The newest title to push the boundaries of the horror label is DC Horror Presents: Sgt. Rock Vs The Army of the Dead.

While the title alone is a hook, the coolest part comes in the form of who is writing this six-issue miniseries. That is none other than horror icon Bruce Campbell himself. Star of the Evil Dead series, Bruce is making his transition to comics taking on this title. Eduardo Risso will draw this undead tale which will make its way to shelves in September of this year.

RELATED:

The character of Sgt. Rock has a longstanding history at DC comics. He first appeared back in 1959 in an anthology series called Our Army at War. That series was later renamed after him due to his surging popularity and ran for a total of 11 years from 1977 until 1988 under that banner.

Rock is not traditionally known for fighting the undead but in an attempt to revitalize the brand, DC saw an opportunity to modernize the tale. The story centers around Sgt. Rock and his Easy Company battling the undead after Hitler and his army try one last effort to turn the tides against the Allied forces.

The first issue will see the main cover by Gary Frank along with variant covers from Francesco Francavilla, Frank Quietly, and Charlie Adlard to name a few. Campbell sure has a lot of pressure but with his history in horror, this book should be nothing short of amazing when it hits shelves on September 27th.
