If there’s one thing Star Wars fans do better than any other fanbase, it is creating theories. Whether it’s the identity of Snoke, Rey’s parentage, or which character was teased in certain episodes of The Mandalorian, fans speculate on everything. Which can be fun as long as people don’t attack each other for it. Andor had had some of these theories before, some of which were resolved. However, one theory some fans started is Luthen Rael could be a Jedi. Although this seems like a wild theory, people have some solid points.

For those who don’t know, Luthen Rael was the guy who hired Cassian Andor at the start of the series and has since been playing the Chessmaster, impacting other characters, including Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrera. He also gave one of Star Wars’ greatest monologues in the tenth episode of the series.

Luthen, as a Jedi, would explain his dedication to defeating the Empire. We have seen Jedi such as Obi-Wan and Kanan Jarrus take up the sword during this era, so it’s not like Jedi weren’t active during the dark times. He also was in possession of a Kyber Crystal, which is what powers a Jedi’s lightsaber, once again hinting that he, at the very least, has a past that ties into the Jedi Order in some form. His shop also has many things in the background that connect to the Jedi.

The guy is also a much better fighter than one would expect, on the ground and in the cockpit, something a strong connection to the Force would explain.

Of course, there could be other explanations for these. In a universe such as Star Wars, where characters have diverse backgrounds and skill sets, Luthen could have these skills and possessions regardless. He could be connected to the Order but not be a Jedi or have a military background.

Either way, it’s certainly fun to speculate over.
