Is Renslayer Kang's Sylvie?

Ravonna Renslayer

At the end of last week's episode of Loki (Episode 3 – “1893”), Miss Minutes informed Ravonna Renslayer of a secret she knew would anger the former TVA bureaucrat. Thus far, we know that there is a probable romantic connection to He Who Remains. At the very minimum, the plot holds space for a “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander” partnership between the two. But what if Renslayer is a female variant of Kang the Conqueror?

This theory suggests a mirrored relationship between Kang and Renslayer to that of Loki and Sylvie. Kang and Loki aren’t that different in their personalities and interest in ruling the roost. For Loki, falling in love with the female version of himself even makes sense. This line of thought arguably can be applied to Kang as well.

A common theme within the TVA has been that even the most diehard loyalists such as Mobius, Hunter B-15, and even Brad Wolfe, aka X-5 had lives that they had no memory of on the timeline. This indicates that at some point, possibly multiple times these folks have had their memories wiped. Indeed, this means that Renslayer had, at one time, a different life. But what if that life was spent as the female version of Kang? In the season premiere, when Loki's timeslipping all over the place, he becomes privy to a recorded conversation between Renslayer and He Who Remains. "Ravonna Renslayer, you are quite a marvel. I will be proud to lead with you." You made a difference in this war. Thank you for being on my team."

Regardless of what she means to Kang, she means something. Ravonna was, at minimum, a skilled warrior or possibly a general in Kang’s army, but it could be argued still that she was indeed one of the Kang variants and simply chose to follow He Who Remains. We saw the ugly tendency in Victor Timely as Miss Minutes exploited it to drop Renslayer off the ship. He doesn’t do “partners.” At some point, He Who Remains could have simply decided that he did not want or need a partner (even if it was himself) and wiped her mind – sending her to keep law and order safely under his thumb at the TVA.

This is one of many fan theories circulating this week as we all wait impatiently for the next episode to drop on Disney+. Thankfully, we only must wait a little longer. Don’t forget to tune in on Thursday night to see if Miss Minutes spills the tea for Ravonna right there at the end of time in front of the corpse of He Who Remains as he sits on the edge of his seat (compliments of Sylvie), and so do we!
