The Grand Army Of The Republic Tactics Were Way More Terrifying Than You Might Think

During the Clone Warsthe Grand Republic Army was one of the galaxy’s most effective fighting forces. The Grand Army battled the Separatist droid Army, which can be considered a lifeless army whose only task was to follow commands at any cost. But, looking at the two armies side-by-side, it can be terrifying considering, ultimately, the Republic’s Clone Army was not as different from the droid army as one might think.

As many know, the Clone Army was created by the Kaminoans. While on Tipoca City, the Kaminoans did not actually treat their soldiers much differently than the droid army would have been treated. Some Kaminoans may have actually described their creations as living droids. What was also clear is that the philosophy that was taught to the clones was just as ruthless as the programming of the droid Army. This became very clear when the clones eventually entered the battlefield.

Once the clone army was deployed to the battlefield, it was clear that they had been subjected to heavy indoctrination while in Tipoca City. They were taught to think of themselves as just cogs in the great machine, and this indoctrination has existed since the beginning of their lives. On the battlefield, clones would advocate for the killing of prisoners or civilians for tactical gain. The Jedi Generals were also very concerned that the clones seemed to lack regard for their own life and the lives of their brothers.

The Jedi Generals attempted to overcome this philosophy and were successful with some clones, such as the 501st. But even with clones that were somewhat able to overcome their indoctrination, some of that “programming still remained.” With all of the clones, it was clear that they lacked self-preservation and that their mission came first. For example, clones knew that when asked to take a defensive position, they agreed to sacrifice their lives for the mission.

Over time some of the clones would become more independent and attempt to pave a path for themselves it was still tough for them. This was due to their creators devaluing them from the start and teaching them that their life was meaningless. It is even more disturbing that most of the clones died for nothing in the end, as the Republic had been tricked into the Clone Wars from the beginning.
