What is it about animals that makes us give them all our attention? Pet influencers are some of the best social media presences out there. Their antics and adventures captivate the attention of people worldwide, and they use their presence to spread positivity wherever they might reach. Most regions of the world have their own unique animals; one of those places is Canada. The following are ten Canadian pet influencers you NEED to follow for a dose of adventure, silliness, and positivity.

Shorty and Kodi are a pair of cats living in Toronto, Canada. Shorty is a black cat who was adopted from the Toronto Humane Society in 2010. She loves demonstrating her affinity for boxes, delightful meows and chirps, and proficiency as a feline yogi. Kodi was adopted from Toronto Animal Services and was playful from the get-go, playing with hoodie strings and crawling up a storm. Both cats have been featured at the Cat Video Film Festival and other outlets, and have won awards for their antics.

Many people know this delightful Canadian celebrity, even if they haven’t realized it before. Some know him as Smudge, while others more likely know him as Table Cat, or that cat from the Woman Yelling at a Cat meme. Smudge wasn’t trying to become famous. He normally gets a seat at his table. One day, when someone vacated a seat, Smudge naturally assumed the now-empty seat was for him and jumped onto the seat, only to be confronted by his mortal enemy on a plate: VEGETALS. The look on his face made history.

I got to meet this beauty at Ottawa’s Pet Expo in mid-October 2023. We had to wait for a bit before she made an appearance and flopped down in front of her hay bales, as she had to first make a trip to the pet relief area. Once she got back, she was ready to ham it up for her fans.

When she is not making appearances or exploring various cities, you can find Honey training to be a therapy pig as well as acting as a mascot for @crabtreekunekunes.
