Rick and Morty are back, baby! Adult Swim has released today a trailer for the show’s long-awaited 6th season, featuring references from some pop culture classics and its own universe. The news came out last month with details of when this season would come out, but today we got some footage from what’s going on with Rick, Morty & Co.

The trailer kicks in with Rick telling his ship to play some music, and the choice was awesome: none other than “Paranoid” from Black Sabbath. Rick is already in a shoot-out of sorts (nothing new here, since he is by far the most wanted being in the universe). Both Beths are featured once again after reconciliation and seem to be working together to go to another universe with the whole family. The video game “Roy: a life well lived” (from season 2, episode 2, “Mortynight Run”) pops up on the screen, this time with Rick and Morty playing together at an arcade.

The trailer also mocks and references other movies. In the same situation, Rick is woken up by Summer in the arcade, and he tells her to “Do a Die Hard…sneak around and use the vents” to get out of a possible terrorist threat, hinting at scenes from the 1988 movie with Bruce Willis. Rick doesn’t stop there, criticizing Summer for never watching it, just like apparently neither did Willis. Summer is also seen sporting X-23 claws in a brief moment of the trailer, showing new powers that she and Rick have acquired. The ongoing joke of Jerry being an idiot is exemplified as well, with Rick using a version of Jerry (probably C-131, who lives with them) as a human shield.

Aww geez, Rick! The trailer goes by pretty quickly, but there’s no worry. The new season will premiere Sunday, September 4 on Adult Swim, but will also be available, like the other seasons were, on HBO Max.
