The Lord of the Rings has returned in a fashion that many did not quite expect. Later this year in Berkshire, UK a small venue known as the Watermill Theatre will produce and perform an immersive outdoor experience that is enjoyable to the whole family. Unfortunately, the Watermill Theatre’s production budget is not going to be on par with the West End production budget of twenty-five million.

Luckily for the audience, Watermill Theatre describes their performance as, “bursting out of the theatre and into the Watermill gardens, be immersed in the magical landscape of Tolkien and join an ensemble cast and large-scale puppets on an epic journey celebrating the power of friendship and common goodness to conquer unimaginable evil.”

Many will be able to join the Watermill Theatre production on the twenty-second of September for a pre-show party in the Watermill gardens and restaurant to celebrate Bilbo Baggins’ eleventy-first birthday. While setting up a reservation in the Riverside Restaurant for a two-course meal or you can order during the day in the Watermill gardens. The Watermill Theatre will welcome hobbits and humans around 5:30 pm. The Watermill Theatre seeks to bring back a production left unperformed since The Lord of the Rings A Musical Tale was abruptly shut down in London in July 2008.

The Lord of the Rings production will first take place in the Watermill Theatre. However, the end will be outside in the Watermill gardens, where the seating will be incredibly limited when compared to other theaters. Luckily, in the case of bad weather, some cover will be provided, but proper footwear and wet weather clothing are advised. The dates for the production to run will begin on July 25 and run till October 15th. If successful this could very well give birth to plays long since seen on stage.
