Charles Soule Takes A Look Back At His Body Of Work To Celebrate His 100th 'Star Wars' Comic

Crimson Reign by Charles Soule

This is a special moment for Star Wars comics. Writer Charles Soule has just penned his 100th Star Wars comic. It is quite an amazing achievement for the famous writer of both Marvel and DC who has been one of the main creative forces of the new Star Wars canon in the last few years.

Starting off with his Poe Dameron comic, Charles Soule has been involved in several comic books running from Darth Vader to the main Star Wars line as well as the War of the Bounty Hunter and Crimson Reign series which saw the return of fan-favorite Qi’ra from Solo. He also kicked off the High Republic project with Light of the Jedi, helping to shape that era into something special.

Recently, he spoke with the official Star Wars website about his career in the galaxy far, far away. He went into various ways about how they develop Star Wars stories in Lucasfilm, as well as how the Story Group has done an excellent job of not only overseeing the universe but giving input and being a good partner to the various creatives like him. Soule also discussed the various arcs he developed over time such as Sith Lord Momin and how he was able to put that character through various comic runs throughout his tenure. In writing Kylo Ren’s arc before The Force Awakens, he explained how he was able to expand upon the lore of the Knights of Ren. As a major Star Wars fan, he has embraced all of it, no matter what era it comes from.

With the spotlight on Qi’ra in his latest War of the Bounty Hunters and Crimson Reign, Soule looked back at a meeting he had with Marvel around 2019 when he brought up the minor character from Solo. Lucasfilm really enjoyed the idea and wanted to see the meat on the bone of this story. The excitement was palpable as he expanded upon her story taking place in between Episodes V and VI.

Charles Soule has had quite an amazing career thus far in the Star Wars universe. He was made a creative consultant at Lucasfilm proper back in April. This could only mean that he will continue to influence the Star Wars universe as the franchise moves forward in exciting and new directions. What does the future hold? Well, as a wise Jedi Master would say “Always in motion the future is.” So let us see what is to come.
