Star Wars: Andor was released earlier this year and it beginning to receive recognition in terms of award nominations. Recently, nominations for the Annual Society of Composers & Lyricists Awards have been announced.  Andor has been nominated in the category of “Outstanding Score for a Television Production”. Nicholas Britell who has composed music for shows such as Moonlight, and Succession composed the music for the series. There are indications that he has worked on the show for at least two years.

For the top prize, Britell will be up against Siddhartha Khosla for his score for Only Murders in the Building, Bear McCreary for his work on The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Theodore Shapiro for Severance, and Cristobal Tapia de Veer for The White Lotus.

Britell explained before the release of Andor, that he began working on the music for the series before cameras began rolling. First, Britell started coming up with the series' main themes and sounds and eventually moved on to more specific pieces of music for each episode. The score is ultimately very complex and involves 12 variations of the main title theme that feel distinctively separate but still similar. Ultimately, the winner of the award will be announced on February 15, 2023.
