Warner Bros. recently confirmed that director Steven Soderbergh would help Matt Reeves wrap production on The Batman: Part II. Reeves stepped away earlier this month to address a family matter. Soderbergh released a statement confirming he'll help with the remaining 6 weeks of filming in the UK. In a latest interview, Batman and Bruce Wayne himself, Robert Pattinson, shared his thoughts on Soderbergh’s offer to help Reeves finish the movie. Pattinson seemed impressed by Soderbergh’s selfless offer. He said, “I am so happy he’s come on to help Matt,” and “It’s incredibly generous of him – and he’s doing it in the loveliest way. It’s completely selfless. I think Matt had put so much work into the script, and we’re almost done. So for someone to come in and say, ‘I just want to help Matt do it; I want to do it in conjunction with him and just get it to the edit.’ And to have someone who’s as talented as Steven doing it is great.”
Pattinson’s statement further cements that Reeves is the director, and Soderbergh and Reeves would remain in touch remotely over the next few weeks to get the film to a point where it can be edited. In a statement about Soderbergh, Reeves confirmed, “Just to be clear, I am not leaving ‘The Batman Part II.’ I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography.” Pattinson not only praised Soderbergh’s selfless offer, but also put any doubts regarding further delays to rest, confirming production was already underway and he would join the rest of the cast soon. He said, “I think they’re in production already. And I’m starting in a couple of days.” This means Warner Bros. and Matt Reeves haven’t let the temporary pause hinder production, and they should complete the final product on time for its scheduled February 18, 2028 release date.
