The news took the community by surprise, and now the Star Wars films have an uncertain future. This is no minor rumor; it was confirmed that Rogue Squadron has been removed from Disney’s release calendar. This most likely means the film was put on hold by the executives and now there is not much that can be done for the project.

The movie was scheduled to release on December 23, 2023, and with the year flying by the chance to start filming and get the film ready to release on time was slipping away. The project was delayed before, supposedly due to scheduling issues with director Patty Jenkins.

Now that the only scheduled project for the franchise was removed major uncertainty arises. Disney and Lucasfilm are reportedly working alongside Taika Waititi, Rian Johnson, and Kevin Feige on three different projects for the Star Wars universe. However, there is very little information about these projects, none of which have a release date at the moment.

Just as the Alliance never lost hope, the community must keep theirs even in these times of darkness and uncertainty. Before we realize we will be back in theaters enjoying a new addition to a universe we love and admire. Whether Rogue Squadron returns to schedule with a new date or a different project hits the big screen first, we can rest assured we will have some Star Wars stories to enjoy.
