Naughty Dog Announces 'The Last Of Us Part I' Remake

The Last of Us Joel and Ellie

On Thursday during Summer Games Fest, fans were expecting anything and everything. However, no one was predicting The Last Of Us Remake would be coming so soon. During the final minutes of Summer Games Fest, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann took the stage to talk to fans directly about all of the exciting things they have coming. Most of his presentation was taken up by this bombshell announcement.

The Last of Us was one of the most popular games of the last decade. It comes as no surprise to see a remake for PS5. Featuring 60 FPS, a new AI system, and the original performances, the remake looks like an entirely new experience of an old favorite. Some fans, however, are a little disgruntled with the $70 price tag for a remaster of a game less than a decade old, seeing it as a cash grab.

Things do look a lot better and the gameplay should be much smoother than the original considering how gaming technology has advanced since 2014. They might also consider releasing this around the same time as the new HBO Series. At the end of the presentation, Naughty Dog dropped a teaser trailer and set a release date of September 2, 2022. For now, all we can do is wait on the edge of our seats.
