Giancarlo Esposito Confirms He Is In Talks With Marvel Studios

On Friday, August 6th, 2022, actor Giancarlo Esposito, known for his role as Gus in Breaking Bad and Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian, spoke about the possibility of joining the MCU during his appearance on stage at the TJH Superhero Car Show and Comic Con in San Antonio.

During audience questions, Esposito was asked for any information he could provide on the rumor of his role in Marvel’s planned X-Men reboot. He replied, “I have not worked for Marvel yet. I’ve been in a room with them and talked with them, and to answer your question, I think what they do is on the lines of that mythological journey that Joe Campbell talked about…”

Esposito then went on to discuss potential roles he would portray, including some fan favorites of Magneto, Dr. Freeze, Victor Von Doom, and Professor X. When asked which character he wanted to play the most, Esposito responded, “Pick one? I’m going to go for something that is a little bit different. I’m gonna go and put it out in the universe that it is Professor X.”

Before the Comic Con event, there had been rumors going around about Esposito talking with Marvel about the role of Professor X. The rumors of Esposito taking on the role of Professor X sparked some social media interaction, with many saying they fully support Esposito portraying the famous X-Man.
