Social media has been buzzing since Sunday night’s House of the Dragon premiere, the Game of Thrones prequel focusing on House Targaryen. With the premier garnering 2.5 million U.S. viewers (the most for any cable or streaming service premiere in 2022), it was only a matter of time before questions about the show started to circulate.

Many fans of the show's predecessor went to Twitter wondering where the iconic title sequence was. While this show is separate from Game of Thrones in story, timeline, and characters, it was still a surprise that the show would not feature its own take on the memorable sequence, especially after fans were treated to the Game of Thrones theme music in the credits of Sunday’s premiere.

According to Vulture, an HBO insider has revealed that the title sequence will return in the upcoming second episode! This insider revealed that they wanted to give fans a “cold opening” so that they could jump straight into the story of House Targaryen.

It will be interesting to see what a House of the Dragon title sequence looks like since the show seems to be more geographically focused than its predecessor. Instead of rolling across a vast map, will fans be treated to images of dragons and fire? We will have to wait until Sunday to find out!

Are you looking forward to seeing the title sequence?  All-new episodes of House of The Dragon will air Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and will stream on the same day and time on HBO Max.
