Is 'Star Wars: 'The Bad Batch' Season 2 Delayed?

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season One was a spin-off series of The Clone Wars which was a massive hit when it first aired on Disney+ on May 4th, 2021. The Bad Batch was the perfect continuation that all fans of The Clone Wars could have ever asked for. As of recently, no one truly knows the airing date due to some recent news and delays, but in the meantime, let's recap some of Season One and discuss why The Bad Batch Season Two is potentially delayed.

Season One of The Bad Batch picks up right in the heat of battle as Clone Captain Grey and Jedi Master Depa Billaba are taking refuge during an engagement with battle droids and armored tanks. As doom seems to be impending on the squad, a group of 5 clones known as The Bad Batch come to save the day, making light work of the mass hoard of droids and tanks. But soon after the battle ends and some discussion between the troops heading separate ways, Clone Captain Grey receives the hologram of Order 66, and this is where the show truly takes off.

Throughout Season One, we see characters and hints to The Clone Wars that genuinely made all fans happy and excited for another season. Seeing characters like Captain Rex, a young Hera Syndulla, Cad Bane, and even a young rancor. There were many nods to different series of Star Wars, and this show seemed to continue to deliver all the way until the very last episode. Fans were very excited to hear soon after the end of Season One that there would be a Season Two of the show in the spring of 2022, but sadly that is not the case.

We still have not received when the show will air or an official update about the show from Lucasfilms or any of the teams working on the show's production. With the original date slated for spring 2022, fans were expecting Season Two of The Bad Batch to be in our hands already. There may be a few reasons for the delays, though, which may be perfectly legit. Coming very soon is the Obi-Wan Kenobi original series which would have taken the light from The Bad Batch most likely, and they would have had to plan accordingly for the show to be finished ahead of Obi-Wan Kenobi and also give enough time for promotion, this would become very tricky.

In a recent issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine, the original spring 2022 release date has been completely removed. This has left fear in the fans that the show is currently delayed indefinitely until the right time is found. Currently, we are looking at a very packed schedule for the rest of the year with Obi-Wan, Andor, and a potential release of The Mandalorian Season 3. So it only seems fitting that the show may have been delayed to an early 2023 release, which is sadly something the fans do not want to hear. But for now, we have to wait for official confirmation from the teams working on the show themselves.

Season One ended on a somber note seeing a fan-favorite location, the cloning facilities on Kamino, be reduced to rubble and washed away into the seas. We also see a heartfelt moment between the clones parting ways with Crosshair as they prepare to leave the planet. Season Two currently has a plot that is up in the air, but could we see Clone Force 99 be a part of helping raise the rebellion against the Empire? Now that would be a welcome sight for the Star Wars fandom.
