Characters and their subsequent actors are not the only entities on House of the Dragon, the popular sequel series to Game of Thrones to exit or trade out people. According to Deadline, Jocelyn Diaz, executive producer for season one originally signed on for the first season with an option to stay on for season two; however, it was recently announced that said option will not be picked up after all. The news of this exit arrived after a co-executive producer, Miguel Sapochnik announced that he will be leaving the show after the season concludes. This leaves co-creator/executive producers Ryan Condol and George R.R. Martin himself leading the helm heading into season two.

After the departure of Sapochnik was announced it was stated that Sara Hess and Diaz would continue for the next season, it has come to light however that that decision did not stand. Deadline also noted that season one fellow executive producer Ron Schmidt “quietly exited the series a while ago.” Alan Taylor is set to come on board for season two as an EP as well as director for the series, which is an exciting addition as Taylor is a veteran of the franchise from his work on Game of Thrones.

With the most recent episode of House of the Dragon experiencing a ten-year time jump, fans are allowed to witness the evolution of characters and their development firsthand. Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cook filled the roles of Princess Rhaenyra and Alicent Hightower and Ty Tennant is the teenage Aegon II.

Change is an inevitability in television, fans however are thrilled with the fast-paced nature of this series and the art of fantasy that it brings to the table and can rest assured that the drama is in good hands moving forward into season two.
