“Spies, saboteurs, assassins…..we’ve all done terrible things on behalf of the Rebellion.”- Cassian Andor.

Saturday at D23, Disney released the final trailer for the prequel series Star WarsAndor. The series will take place five years before the events of Rogue One and show how the rebellion formed during the strongest time of the Empire. The series will have two seasons, with the first three episodes debuting on September 21, 2022, and running for nine weeks. The second season is said to start filming in November and will lead up to the events of Rogue One.

The show will feature the return of Genevieve O’Reilly (Mon Mothma) and Forest Whitaker (Saw Gerrera) and possibly show some of the events that sent them on their separate ways. The trailer also showed Stellan Skarsgard as a possible mentor and friend to Cassian. He states in the trailer, “ Andor, no matter what you tell me or what you tell yourself, you’ll ultimately die fighting these bastards. Wouldn’t you rather give it all at once? To something real?” A powerful line that we know foreshadows the eventual conclusion of Rogue One.

The trailer showed a gritty, serious tone that is sure to be the effect of the showrunner Tony Gilroy who worked on Rogue One reshoots and had previously worked on the Bourne trilogy.
