Lucasfilm Reportedly Has 'Reva' Spin-Off Series In The Works For Disney+

Third Sister Reva

On 31st May, the official Star Wars Twitter reported that the premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi has been the most-watched Original Series premiere on Disney+, based on the hours streamed in an opening weekend.

From the get-go the series has been conceived and also marketed as a mini-series, ending after the sixth episode. But reportedly these huge numbers have made Disney rethink this decision. Depending on the source, the second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi is either in consideration or has already been greenlit.

Screengeek now reports that Lucasfilm is in the process to develop a spin-off series focusing on Reva, aka the Third Sister, played by Moses Ingram.

No other information on this project is available at this point. Si, it is unclear if the spin-off will take place before or after the current Kenobi series. At the same time, it is also possible that the rumored “second season” is the spin-off series and not two separate shows.

A series focused on Reva taking place after Obi-Wan Kenobi of course depends on the Inquisitor still being alive after the sixth episode. The Third Sister has surely taken a lot of risks to lure Kenobi out of his self-proclaimed exile and while Darth Vader has promised to grant her the rank of the next Grand Inquisitor if she should succeed, he also wouldn’t hesitate a moment to kill her, if she fails. And as the fates of both Kenobi and Leia have been known since 1977, her chances of not being stabbed by Vader’s lightsaber are probably not too high.

Fans will find out in less than two weeks, on June 22, when the last of the 6 episodes air, if there is even a chance that a Reva spin-off could take place after the events of the series.

Moses Ingram’s character is one of the most interesting figures of the show and by far the most intriguing of the three Inquisitors (four if you include the Grand Inquisitor), that have been featured in the show so far.

Inquisitors

There have been little hints about her backstory here and there, like the Grand Inquisitor calling her “the least of us” and that she is coming from the gutter. In episode 4 she tells Leia that she knows how it feels to be alone and that everything (including her droid) has been taken from her when she was younger.

According to one theory, Reva was one of the younglings, who could be seen during the Order 66 scenes at the beginning of the first episode, and her hatred of Kenobi is based on the fact that he sent out the distress signal to the remaining Jedi, not to return to Coruscant, leaving her and the other younglings to the mercy of the Empire.

A possible spin-off series could focus on these ten years when the Force-sensitive young girl had to hide in the lower levels of Coruscant (the “gutter”) before she was found and made an Inquisitor. Reva also knows quite a bit about Kenobi and Anakin/Vader as well, so the series could also feature her research.

Disney’s D23 expo takes place between September 9 and 11, with a Lucasfilm presentation planned for Saturday, September 10. This could be the next possibility to announce future Star Wars projects both for the big and the small screen, maybe even a spin-off series for Reva.
