The Strange Love Life Of Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker, Jedi Master, Legend, a hero to all the known galaxy, yet also a man with a very strange life.

Despite being a great hero of the galaxy Luke Skywalker was never particularly lucky in the love department. At least in Legends. In Canon it seems he has forgotten trying to find any particular significant others as of this moment in pursuit of his Jedi training. However, in the old Star Wars Expanded Universe he had many, many, many romantic interests over time. Some went well, some did not. Let's look over a few and see the ups and downs of Luke Skywalker's strange romantic life.

The Sith Lady

Luke had many adventures during his time in the Rebellion. One of them was meeting a Sith Imperial Spy who he had a romantic interest in named Shira Brie, aka Darth Lumanya. Although Luke did not know it at the time. She and Luke had a bit of a romantic entanglement when Bria infiltrated the Rebellion under the command of Darth Vader.

Bria set up quite a flirtatious relationship with Luke at first but over time and many dangerous missions they actually develop quite the bond. However, once her mission was complete, she betrayed Luke but not before getting shot down by time. While she served, she needed cybernetics in order to live.

Over time she would embrace her dark force powers and learn more and more of the ways of the Sith eventually declaring herself a Dark Lady of the Sith. She would go on to corrupt Luke’s nephew Jacen Solo as well as be responsible for the death of Luke’s wife, Mara Jade.

The Computer Ghost

During Luke’s later years, after the Battle of Endor, he had an interest in a Jedi ghost of all things.

Callista Ming was a Jedi from the time of the Clone Wars. Though she died, her spirit endured, finding its way to an Imperial secret facility years later known as the Eye of Palpatine. There she would meet Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker.

Luke would become infatuated by Callista despite being a ghost and dead. Their relationship would take a strange turn when she decides to possess a computer within the Imperial facility. However, their relationship would not last as she would lose her physical body and continue to move on with the force.

Thus, ending another strange relationship with Luke Skywalker

The Hand of the Emperor

Of all of Luke’s many romantic interests, none of them held a candle the story of Luke and Mara Jade

Mara Jade was once a Hand of Emperor Palpatine, a loyal assassin and one who’s sole job was to obey the Emperor in all things. Her last mission was to “Kill Luke Skywalker”. However, she was able to break free of the Emperor’s control and realize that Luke was not her enemy and that the Empire and Emperor did terrible things. While working together to defeat Thrawn, the two formed a bond, and while it was not romantic at first it very much blossomed through the power of the force. Over time as they worked together, over the years, their bond would continue to grow more and more until at last the two got married. Thus, Mara Jade became Mara Jade Skywalker.

Luke would sadly outlive his wife though as she would fall at the hands of his nephew, Jacen Solo, who became the Sith Lord Darth Ceadus.

Over his many years Luke has had many adventures, and many love interest. One worked out while others did not. Regardless, Luke is a person of legends, and thus the people he meets, for good or for ill, are too legendary as well.
