James Gunn’s Superman isn’t out on general release until July 11th, but the industry is already making predictions about the success of the opening weekend.
The National Research Group has come up with a whopping estimate of 135 million dollars, or a range of $125 million to $145 million for Superman’s first weekend on sale. NRG’s estimates are based on the polling of movie-goers and the fact that Superman has had the best advance ticket sales of the year. If the NRG is correct, it would mean that Superman could earn more than Suicide Squad (133 million) and The Batman (134 million).
But there are a lot of people with opinions on this movie, predictions on the opening weekend range from a conservative 90 million to guarantees that James Gunn’s Superman will be DC’s best gross. Beating out Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, which took 166 million at the box office.
