UK Box Office Dominated By 'Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny'

There are some fantastic choices at the box office right now, so many that it could be tough for consumers to choose what to go see. For folks not in the know of what is out, Variety reported on the current top five films in the United Kingdom per data released by Comscore. The current top five is as of July 4, 2023. That first place belongs to our favorite archeological hero. That’s right, Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is number one in the UK!

Disney’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has dominated the box office in the UK as it sits in the number one spot in its opening weekend. The Little Mermaid holds fourth place in its sixth weekend. Disney is scheduled to release their latest animation film, Elemental, this coming weekend as well in over 300 locations. Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse holds the second position in its 5th weekend. Universal’s Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken debuted in the number three spot. Universal holds the fifth position for Asteroid City as well. It is noteworthy that two additional top ten film debuts are from India – Bakrania Media’s Carry on Jatta 3 sits in the ninth-place spot while House Of Advertising’s Satyprem Ki Katha made its debut in the number ten spot.

For those unaware of what may be debuting in addition to those top contenders, Paramount has a treat planned that most assuredly will pack a punch. It is an unusual mission for a major motion picture to debut during the week, especially a multi-film series of similar caliber to the Indiana Jones franchise; however, that is the move Paramount has planned for part one of the conclusion to the Mission: Impossible franchise hedging the bet that fans will undoubtedly accept with excitement. Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One is expected to hit theaters on Monday, July 10.  It will be interesting to see in the coming weeks which film will make that coveted number-one spot. Will one of the current top ten films take the lead? Is Indy destined to remain number one, or will Ethan Hunt drop in from the sky and take his place?
