Mojang Studios Unveils 'Minecraft Legends' A New Adventure Strategy Game At Xbox Games Showcase

During the Xbox Games Showcase this afternoon, Microsoft was full of Surprises. Perhaps the largest was the announcement of a new game from Mojang Studios, Minecraft Legends. The game is described as an action strategy game, showcasing elements of both base-building and some adventuring with an NPC group. While keeping with Minecraft's original look and design, this game will deviate from the original game's playstyle.

The reveal trailer made sure to show off quite a bit of the gameplay after a long cinematic scene. The game will feature the player character as a leader of some sort, helping to build what looks like villages and fortresses throughout the map. This appears to be an attempt to protect the player and their followers from the threats of the nether. The game will be a lot to adapt to compared to the gameplay of Minecraft. Instead of mining resources alone, perhaps players will command units to build mines and work them like a traditional 4x strategy game.

For now, fans will have to speculate a bit until Mojang gives us more details. If what we saw today will be any indication, the game looks like a very new take on an old classic. Minecraft Legends will be coming sometime in 2023.
