Amid studio turmoil, Warner Bros has been adjusting its release schedule for several upcoming movies. The latest film to receive a new release date is the highly anticipated Dune: Part 2, now scheduled for release on November 3, 2023, instead of the 17th. The schedule change is likely to factor in other well-known franchise releases, such as The Hunger Games Prequel: The Ballad of Songs and Snakes, scheduled for that weekend in November 2023. This move leaves Dune unopposed as the upcoming Blade reboot from Marvel studios has also been postponed until 2024. Dune: Part 2 is positioned without much direct competition at the box office upon its release.

Dune is a 1965 epic science fiction novel written by Frank Herbert. The famous novel was adapted by David Lynch in 1984 and later by John Harrison in the 2000 miniseries. The story of Dune is set in the distant future and chronicles the account of Paul Atreides and House Atreides as they are drawn into a war on the desert planet Arrakis. The current iteration of Dune is directed by Denis Villeneuve and stars Timothee Chalamet as Paul. The sequel will see Florence Pugh (Black Widow, Little Women) be added to the cast, continuing the story.
