Good news! Everyone’s favourite anthropomorphic yellow bear has become public domain!  What does this mean? Well, new artists and creators can use the Winnie The Pooh IP, without being priced out by legal fees and costs. I wonder what new fun children’s books, games, comics, series, and other wholesome stories we might get from the inhabitants of Hundred Acre Wood? What’s that? There’s already a trailer for an upcoming Winnie the Pooh Film? How marvellous.

Oh, Bother!

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is an upcoming genuine horror film due for release this year. The story seems to be about an adult Christopher Robin returns to Hundred Acre Wood and wants to show his partner where he grew up – and share a deeply personal part of his childhood with her. So far so good. However,  it seems that Pooh and Piglet didn’t care for being forgotten, and have been on a bloodthirsty rampage, eating their old companions, and are still hungry Fortunately, Tigger is still under copyright for another 2 years, as he wasn’t introduced until 1928.

It will be interesting to see if this film stands out from any of the other dime-a-dozen home invasion style films of the last 15 years. At the very least, morbid curiosity will probably pull more than a few people down to the woods today…or whenever “Coming Soon” ends up being.
