Co-founder of VidCon, Hank Green, has shared the news that he is in “complete remission” three months after first reporting his Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer diagnosis. Back in May, he revealed the diagnosis on the YouTube channel he shares with his brother to explain his absence from this year’s VidCon. Back then, he revealed that this type of cancer “responds very well to treatment” and that “the goal is cure.”

Three months later, Green’s latest health update has revealed he is free from it, but a chance of relapse is “still very present.” His posts on X (formerly Twitter) reveal that a scan in three months will check to see if his health is still good, then continue to be monitored. “They don’t call it cure until five years from today.” As stated later on in his posts, “the risk of relapse fades over the next few years, but you never know” if or even when the cancer will return.

Green is thankful for everything that has helped him recover, saying “I can’t emphasise enough that chemotherapy is both brutal and miraculous. Just feeling utterly grateful to all of the people who have been part of the scientific and medical processes that made this possible. And I am so sad that these treatments (which have existed for decades) remain unavailable to so many people. I’m keeping them in my thoughts today.”
